About Stackd

What is Stackd?

Stackd is the easy way to share lots of photos with friends. Send a whole stack, from a holiday, a wedding or a night out, and everyone swipes through it, keeps the ones they love and saves them straight to their phone. No more scrolling through hundreds of photos in a group chat.

How do I send a stack?

Tap + and pick your photos. Drag across the grid to select lots at once. Give the stack a name if you like, choose the friends or group to send it to, and tap Send. It keeps uploading if you leave Stackd, and your friends get it as soon as it's ready.

How do I swipe?

Swipe right (or tap ♥) to keep a photo and left (or tap ✕) to skip it. Made a mistake? Tap Undo. When you reach the end, save the ones you kept to your Photos, or swipe through your keepers again to narrow them down.

What if I stop halfway?

That's fine. Stackd remembers exactly where you were, including every photo you've kept, so you can close the app and carry on later.

What are similar photos?

When a few shots are nearly identical, Stackd shows them as one card so you can pick the best. You can turn this off in Settings → Swiping.

What are groups?

A group is a set of friends you share with often, like a group chat. Anyone in the group can post a stack, and everyone else in it gets it to swipe.

Are photos full quality?

Yes. You swipe through quick previews, but the photos you save are the originals, exactly as they were taken.

Stacks

How long do stacks last?

A stack disappears 7 days after it's sent. The sender can give it more time, up to 30 days in total. After that, its photos are deleted from Stackd for good. Anything you've saved to your phone is yours to keep.

How many photos can I send?

Up to 500 photos in a stack, to up to 20 friends at a time.

Can I see what my friends kept?

No. You can see who has started or finished swiping your stack, but not which photos they kept or how many. That's up to them.

Can I delete or forward a stack?

Yes. Tap ••• on a stack, or press and hold it. Stacks you sent can be forwarded to more friends or deleted for everyone. Stacks you received can be deleted from your list.

Does Stackd use my mobile data?

Not unless you let it. Photos upload on Wi-Fi only, and wait until you're back on Wi-Fi. To upload over mobile data too, turn it on in Settings → Data Saver.

What's my Stackd score?

Every photo you've sent or received on Stackd. Each one adds a point once it's fully arrived, so photos still sending (or that never made it) don't count. Expired stacks still count; unsent ones don't.

Privacy & safety

Can Stackd see my photos?

No. Your photos are end-to-end encrypted. They're scrambled on your phone before they're uploaded, and only the phones of the people you send them to hold the keys to unscramble them. We store your photos, but we can't see them. Neither can anyone who works at Stackd, or anyone who gets into our servers.

Is there ever an exception?

Only if someone reports a photo or a stack to us. Their phone then sends us a readable copy of what they reported, so we can review it and keep Stackd safe.

What does Stackd know about me?

What it needs to work: your name, username and profile photo, who your friends are, who sent a stack to whom and when, stack and group names, and how many photos a stack has. Never what's in your photos.

What happens on a new phone?

Your keys are kept in your iPhone's Keychain and move to a new iPhone with iCloud Keychain. If iCloud Keychain is off, stacks you received before switching can't be opened on the new phone, but everything sent after works as normal.

How do I report or block someone?

Tap ••• on a stack or photo, or on a friend in the Friends tab, then choose Report or Block. Blocked people can't send you stacks or find you, and you can unblock them in Settings → Privacy & legal.

How do I delete my account?

Go to You → Settings → Privacy & legal → Delete account. Your profile, friends and the stacks you've sent are deleted straight away.
